My name is Elizabeth, and I’m the mother of Emilly, my 6-year-old little girl. Ever since she was born, our lives have been a fight against a cruel disease called Epidermolysis Bullosa. Her skin is so fragile that even the lightest touch can become a wound. Something simple like playing, holding a toy, or even putting on clothes can hurt her and cause unbearable pain.

Emilly is incredibly strong, but she suffers every single day. She watches other kids running and playing, and she dreams of being able to do the same without hurting. Instead, she has to go through painful bandage changes, take medication, and be extremely careful at all times so she doesn’t injure herself even more. As a mother, watching my daughter go through this breaks me inside.

Since we received the diagnosis, our entire routine has changed. There are medications, ointments, specialist appointments, and special dressings that need to be changed every day. But all of this comes with a high cost, and unfortunately, our family can’t afford it on our own.

Epidermolysis Bullosa has no cure, but the right treatments help reduce pain and prevent serious complications. The special dressings protect Emilly’s skin, prevent infections, and help her wounds heal. The medicine eases her suffering, and her doctors follow her closely to make sure she receives the best care possible.
